Oof time goes fast! I can't believe my last post was back in August and we are already into October! Well makes sense as this latest update to my kitchen took me about a year! My mom gave these plates to me about a year ago and I put them away not sure what to do with them but knowing that I loved them. She was given them for her wedding over 30 years ago. I am not sure what kind of plates they are exactly, a sort of deep plate/shallow bowl with a nifty handle. But the design on them is totally cool!
So I finally settled on putting them up on a blank wall in my kitchen, just where the cupboards end. To do this I made a loop out of Sugru and attached it to the back of the plate. Have you heard about this stuff? It's great! It is a sort of silly putty that you can mould and shape into whatever you want, let it dry over night and it turns into a hard rubber. So I made the loops and let them cure and then pulled on them to make sure they were good and stuck and then I was able to just use regular picture hanging hooks in the wall and slip the loop over the hook. In less than 1 minute, they were on the wall and there they shall stay! Take a look!
The best part about the Sugru is that if I want to one day actually use them for plates or something else, I can remove the loops no problem!
